 Sensei/Coach Kurt Fichtner is a third degree black belt in Karate and Tae Kwon Do, and co-owner/instructor at Evolution Martial Arts. He began studying the martial arts in 1990, at the age of 10, where he took private Shotokan lessons from a family friend named Danny Budiman. He continued his pursuit of traditional martial arts, when at the age of 14 he joined Rising Stars Martial Arts Academy, where he studied WTF Tae Kwon Do from Sensei Joshua Pegg and later from Master Tim Powell, and Freestyle Karate (Sport Karate and American Kickboxing rules) from nationally ranked Master William Rowling and Sensei Steve Rowling. On January of 1999, Coach Kurt was promoted to the rank of Sho Dan (1st degree Black belt), and has since then earned the rank of San Dan (3rd degree Black Belt). Not just and instructor, but a life long student, Coach Kurt has trained and trains in a variety of other martial arts as well. He earned an Orange Belt in Tenshin Aikido and has been training in Boxing, Submission Grappling, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2006. Sensei/Coach Kurt has been competing in martial arts competitions since the age of 14, and has had consistent wins in multiple types of fighting (TKD, Karate, Kickboxing, Pankration, Sport Jiu-Jitsu) and forms competitions, at a local, state, and national level, and currently fights MMA. Coach Kurt graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Coach Kurt coaches Kickboxing and MMA Striking, instructs the Cardio and Conditioning classes and sometimes instructs the Karate and TKD classes. Angel Emmerson Sport Karate and Tae-Kwon-Do assistant instructor Angel has been training with us since we first opened in late 2006. She is currently a purple belt in our Hybrid Karate and Tae-Kwon-Do system, as well as a Sport Karate competitor.

Coach Arjay Murphy
Coach Arjay Murphy has been actively involved in martial Arts for over a decade. He got his start in the martial arts when he Wrestled on Lincoln High School Varsity Team in 1998. Arjay studied Crane Quigong from '98-2000, and tried Wing Chung Tai Chi in 2000. In the beginning of 2003, Arjay found his first true home, LKC Martial Arts, where he trained in a mixed system that incorporated aspects of Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Kali, western boxing, western wrestling, krav maga, Jiu-Jitsu, and some Judo into the curriculum. Arjay trained at LKC until the very end of 2007, when he joined an MMA/BJJ team. He fought and trained for them for a year, and received his blue belt in BJJ. He then trained with another MMA/BJJ team where he received his purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Arjay now trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Marcelo Alonso. Coach Arjay Murphy is a born competitor. He is currently the 135lb Sudden Impact MMA Champion, has had over 15 MMA fights, and has done multiple BJJ tournaments. Coach Arjay is the Head Instructor for our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes. Coach Dan Gehring Kickboxing and MMA Striking Coach and Boxing Coach. Dan has been boxing for over a decade, and has trained in many martial arts styles including Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, and Muay Thai. Dan is a 1st Degree Black Belt under Master William Rowling and Master Tim Powell in Freestyle Karate and WTF Tae-Kwon-Do, and is a USA Boxing certified coach. He is also a teacher at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington. Dan coaches the Kickboxing and MMA Striking classes.

Mike Devose MMA, Kickboxing, Sport Karate, and Tae-Kwon-Do assistant coach Mike is a 3rd degree Black Belt in Karate and Tae-Kwon-Do who has been involved in martial arts since the age of 4. He also an experienced fighter who fights MMA as well as Sport Karate.

 Sensei Cary Patterson is a third degree black belt in Karate and Tae Kwon Do, and co-owner/instructor at Evolution Martial Arts. He began studying the martial arts nearly 20 years ago, in the early 1990's. He started out studying the American art of Boxing, and later moved on to Shotokan Karate, and Muay Thai kickboxing where he trained under Datu Kelly Worden. He later joined up with Rising Stars Martial Arts Academy, where he studied WTF Tae Kwon Do from Sensei Joshua Pegg and later from Master Tim Powell, and Freestyle Karate (Sport Karate and American Kickboxing rules) from nationally ranked Master William Rowling and Sensei Steve Rowling. He then opened his own school, Team Patterson Martial Arts, and now Evolution Martial Arts. Sensei Cary Patterson has been competing in various martial arts competitions for years, and has a very successful Sport Karate record with multiple victories. He was a nationally ranked champion for Professional Sport Karate in 2001, a member of Team USA, a qualifier for the 2002 Goodwill Games, and won 2nd place in ExerciseTv's Best Kickboxing Instructor competition for 2008. Sensei Cary is the head instructor for the Sport Karate and TKD classes, as well as the Karate coach for MMA.

Champ, 2 time Regional Champ), who has been training since he was a
child. He is an active MMA fighter,with multiple fights, and currently
cross-trains in Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Tae-Kwon-Do. John is a veteran of the US Navy, and served two tours in Iraq. John also coaches wrestling classes at Key Peninsula MMA
